Surgical Services

Heights Veterinary Clinic has both conventional and laser surgical capabilities!

Laser Surgery

Heights Veterinary Clinic is one of the only clinics in the greater Houston area to have laser surgical capability.  Using the laser, we can significantly reduce patient pain and discomfort from a wide variety of surgical procedures including most minor skin surgeries, routine cat declaw procedures, soft palate resections, and superficial mass removals.

Surgery

Safety is our primary concern at Heights Veterinary Clinic.  We recommend pre-anesthesia bloodwork on all surgeries, and use only state-of-the-art anesthetics. All surgeries are monitored by a technician and a pulse oximeter.  We practice strict aseptic technique on all surgeries.

Dental Services

Heights Veterinary Clinic offers dental cleaning services to our patients with tartar buildup.  We use a Dentalaire Prestige® ultrasonic dental cleaner to remove the tartar, and then polish the teeth to prolong the effect of the cleaning.  Tartar buildup does damage the enamel of the teeth, so the tartar builds up again faster than it did originally, but brushing the teeth can slow its progress significantly.  We must anesthetize the patient to perform a dental cleaning, but they are usually able to go home the same day.

Surgical Monitoring

All animals undergoing anesthetic procedures at Heights Veterinary Clinic can have their vitals  monitored with our VetSpecs® VSM8 vital statistics monitoring system.  The VSM8 can monitor:

  • ECG
  • Heart rate
  • Core body temperature
  • Respiration rate
  • Respiration waveform
  • Blood oxygen level

The ECG function of the VSM8 will also allow us to perform limited in-house electrocardiograms.
