DERAMAXX®

DERAMAXX® helps control chronic osteoarthritis (OA) pain in your dog. Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease that affects a dog’s joints. It is the most common cause of chronic pain in dogs. The fact is, one out of five adult dogs suffers from arthritis severe enough to make it difficult for him to jump, climb stairs, even get in and out of the car. DERAMAXX is a type of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Nonsteroidals are medicines that control the clinical signs of inflammation, including pain, redness, warmth and swelling. Common examples of NSAIDs that people use are aspirin, ibuprofen and naproxen (the active ingredients in many over-the-counter pain relievers).

Rimadyl®
Among the first of a new generation of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, Rimadyl® has proven effective in relieving the pain associated with hip dysplasia, arthritis in older dogs, and other diseases causing pain in the dog's bones, muscles, and joints.  It has also shown itself to be a safer long-term alternative than the steroidal drugs used in the past.

Etogesic®
A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, Etogesic® is a once-a-day alternative for use in dogs which either are difficult to medicate or fail to respond to Rimadyl®.

Cosequin
Cosequin is a "neutraceutical"  product aimed at helping arthritic animals re-grow cartilage in affected joints.  Unlike the NSAIDs  Rimadyl® and Etogesic®  which act to block the pain of arthritis, Cosequin® addresses to source of the pain.  Also unlike the NSAIDs, which can be given intermittently when needed, Cosequin® must be given regularly, first at a loading dosage for 4-6 weeks, then at a reduced maintenance dosage.  To find out more, visit the Nutramax website by clicking here.

Anipryl
Anipryl is a new drug from Pfizer aimed at helping older dogs with canine cognitive dysfunction syndrome.  It can decrease or even eliminate signs such as loss of house-training, disorientation, and changed sleep-wake cycle associated with this syndrome of senior canines.
