Flea Control
Heights Veterinary Clinic carries a selection of top-quality prescription flea control products. With the mild winter we had this last year, expect a greater than average flea population this summer. Using Program® (or Sentinel®) and having a few vials of a good topical flea control product on hand would be a prudent way to avoid what could be an overwhelming problem.
Sentinel® is one of the most comprehensive monthly heartworm preventatives. In one pill, it is a combination of Interceptor®, a monthly heartworm preventative, and Program®, once-a-month for dogs flea preventative that keeps fleas from laying viable eggs after they bite your pet. It is normally used in conjunction with a topical product (such as Advantage®, Frontline, etc) to prevent fleas from building resistance to those products.
Key Benefits
- Prevents Heartworms, Hookworms, Roundworms, Whipworms, and and helps to control Fleas!
- Palatable Flavor-Tab formulation
- Easy Once-a-month dosing

Capstar™ is the first in a new generation of flea control products from Novartis aimed at those times when a quick, effective flea kill is required, without resorting to baths, dips, sprays, or spot-on products. The Capstar™ pill is given to the dog, cat, puppy, or kitten weighing at least 2 pounds and at least 4 weeks old, and the fleas start to die and drop off in as little as 30 minutes. The product is eliminated by the body within 36 hours, so there is no residual effect, but in conjunction with a product like Program™, it provides an efficient way to kill adult fleas without having to deal with the chemical residues of the topical flea adulticides.
